8° MostraEvento di MostraMi
Art for Women, Women feed the Planet
27th-30th November 2014
Palazzo Giureconsulti, Via Mercanti 2 (Milan)
#MostramiForWomen
Painting, photography, sculpture, street art and video art were the contents of the VIII MostraEvento ... Both young Italian artists and young foreign artists, exhibited on the theme of valorization of women and gender equalities.
Why do we need to talk about women and their valorization in 2014? Because newspapers continue, unfortunately, every day to talk about violence and femicide.
Just some data: in Italy, according to "Stop feminicidio" 120 women are killed each year just because they are "females". The EU Agency for Fundamental Rights released a study which alleged that in Europe, one in three women over 15 years has been at least once in his life victim of violence. According to an UN report, worldwide 135 million women and girls has been victim of genital mutilation because of beliefs and traditions related to gender identity, for example, the practice of infibulation.
We wanted to play our part by involving in the event young people, artists, institutions, and businesses!
"Art for Women, Women feed the Planet" took place from 27th to November 30th, 2014 at Palazzo Giureconsulti in Via dei Mercanti 2 in Milan. The spiers of the Cathedral looked after our young Italian and foreign artists ...
It was not just a collective exhibition but a big event with a real Art Factory: the artists invited to participate in the project didn't only exhibit their own artworks about the theme of valorization of women but participated in an art workshop in which they co-produced artworks. The VIII MostraEvento created a fluid space in which art production, exhibition and public participation lived.
