Photographer, painter and writer, I live and work in Milan.
I’m always been a photographer amateur, but the advent of digital photography has opened unexpected horizons.
Thus, even while continuing to paint with traditional techniques, now I’m mainly using my digital photos to create paintings using graphic processing of various kinds.
I also write short stories and poems, some of which have been published in anthologies, and I’m cultivating a project of connection between writing and images, in the sense that interests me more and more to create images that can boot take the narration of a story.
The look of a wizard
” I want to be
that questions the mysteries
who wanders in the maze
that challenge the indifference
that seeks a balance
chasing new horizons
who rides the spirit of his time :
the look of a wizard. ”
( Donatella Sarchini )
The photograph itself has something magical, because it capture the fleeting reality making it persistent over time.
But a spell even greater is the expansion of the meaning of a photographic image transfigured by contamination with the graphic arts and poetry.
In this way the processed photo becomes dynamic storytelling, in the imagination of the beholder, because in it there are no longer enclosed territory or boundaries.
I am currently experimenting with a new technique, that I like to call “material – digital “, by which I try to evoke visually also a concrete dimension ( almost tactile ) of the image , so as to give an extra dimension to the surface smooth and glossy typical of photography. It is an illusion, I agree, but the intent is to arouse a greater involvement in the work.
The 6 images that suggest represent a sample of my new expressive project, much closer to painting than photography.
In my works The title has a key role.
It is an integral part of the work as are the colors and the physical matter of which they are composed, and is the spark that initiates and guides the concatenation of mental images visually aroused by the work.
Given that in a work of art everyone is free to see what he wants, the title invites the visitor to enter, take a trip into the work, and put her point of view with that of the author .
But you can light a fire in so many ways …… and often my work has a double degree , one in Italian ( my native language ) and the other in English , not always the one is the literal translation of the other, and sometimes traveling on tracks separate and parallel.
Sometimes I have given my work a different titles at different times, depending on my state of mind or depending on the context of exposure.
Because life is unpredictable dynamics, and I like to respond to this continuous development, I like to go on and explore the flow of current over time.
