Omnia Vincit Amor
7 febbraio – 3 marzo
Love's topicamore has always been, and still is, the most frequently discussed topic in all branches of art: from literature to theatre and the figurative arts. Generally, when we use the word "love" our mind immediately tends to imagine a romantic and often physical feeling; however, this is only one of the declinations of this fundamental "topos".
La pietas romana can be considered as one of the many nuances of love, which encompasses all the duties that a man has towards the state, society and other men; it implies protection, care, the guarantee of a safe haven and the certainty that someone, somewhere, driven solely by his being human, will take care of you.
With Lovers' Day in the air, we wanted to broaden the concept and scope of love, not just thinking about boyfriends.
Reading the pages of the newspapers, it sometimes seems that in today's society, pietas has disappeared. pietas sia venuta meno. When did we forget the capacity to love of a love that knows no ulterior motive? When did we give up the enormous opportunity to listen to the different and to understand their reasons? When did we stop extending a hand to those we see suffering?
Of all the things said about love, Virgil has left us the purest and, at the same time, the most hopeful: “Omnia vincit amor"love conquers all. It wins over fears, insecurities, anxieties, pain, bewilderment, fatigue and loneliness.
