The young sculptor Elias Naman was born in Yabroud (Syria) in 1980. After the graduation at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus, in 2003 he arrived in Italy and he enrolled at the Carrara Accademy, where in 2009 he obatained the bachelor and in 2011 the specialization in sculpture, with the highest marks. He participated in several sculptural symposia allover the world and he exposed his works in solo and group exhibitions in Italy, France, Germany, Syria, Lebanon, Brazil, Argentina and Taiwan.
He has always preferred the figurative manner and, for this reason, he kneads marble by hand, without the support of any machineries, just like Michelangelo did over five hundred years ago.
His method of execution traces the tradition and the classicism: he works by starting from a block of marble without the intermediation of models or drawings.
He cooperated with several laboratories in the Apuo-Versiliese area and currently works at his studio, located in Via del Baluardo in Carrara.
He has won numerous awards for his sculptures and participated in many international symposia:
2013 International Symposium of Sculpture of “Amchit” Lebanon.
2012 International Sculpture Biennal Festival of Chaco “resistencia” Argentina, and he won the audience award.
2012 He won the competition to participate in (BENQ international work shop) Taiwan.
2009 International Sculpture Symposium of Litzendorf, Bamberg, Germany.
